The Mio A701 is the perfect tool to take away on business, Offering the functionally of several devices in one. So instead of wasting time waiting for your flight or sat on a train, you can use the A701 to catch up on your e-mail.

Once at your destination, it will guide you straight to your hotel (on foot or with a rental car) and then to your meeting. On the way, call the office and make sure you're up to speed on any new developments. And in the evening, use it to find a good restaurant in the neighbourhood. With Mio Map v2, the A701 gives you the phone numbers of local POI's, you can even call ahead and book a table.

SiRFstar III for fast, accurate positioning

The latest SiRFstar III GPS receiver picks up satellite signals faster and holds them better, whatever your surroundings.

Thanks to the new 'Quick Position' feature, the Mio A701 can predict the likely location of satellites to pick up signals much faster. The highly sensitive SirfStar III GPS chipset, meanwhile, can receive signals from up to 20 satellites for extremely accurate positioning, even in the toughest terrain. So whether you find yourself in the centre of a city or the middle of the countryside, the A701 makes sure you'll find your way.

When it comes to connecting the receiver, you needn't worry about getting in a tangle, because it comes built-in. Slim and sleek, the A701 is the ultimate in compact design, Offering pocket-sized portability that's perfect whether you travel on foot, by bike or in your car.

Power and portability

With a lighting-fast 520 MHz Intel processor and a large internal memory, the A701 is a great performer.

The A701 has been designed with portability in mind, but that doesn't mean a compromise on power. The sleek, slim body contains state of the art technology for a surprising high level of performance.

A 520 MHz Intel processor is complemented by a built-in 128 MB ROM memory and 64 MB RAM memory. The SD/MMC card slot also allows you to expand the memory, ideal for any music, photo, storage, ebooks and work files that you might like to take along for the journey.

Flexibility at your fingertips

A crystal clear 2.7'' touch screen means the Mio A701 is simple to use as well as easy to follow.

The touch screen gives you the flexibility to use different types of input. So it's up to you whether you prefer to enter data with the on-screen keypad or use the handwriting recognition option.

User-friendly design doesn't stop with the screen. There's a joystick to help you scroll through and select your options, whilst programmable shortcut buttons will take you directly to whichever application you want to access.

Works both on the road and off it

For complete flexibility, the A701 leaves you free to choose whichever Windows Mobile 5-compatible navigation software you like.

As long as it runs on the Windows Mobile 5 operating platform, the Mio A701 can support the GPS software of your choice.

That means you're no longer restricted as to where and when you can use GPS. Nor do you need different navigation devices depending on the activity you want to use them for. In short, wherever you want to take it, you can.

For the road, we recommend Mio Map software. Mio Map will guide you to your destination for a perfect, seamless journey every time, with Maps of 27 European countries available. But the A701 is equally in its element if you want to go sailing, biking, or hiking. Just add the software and go.

Make calls and navigate directly to Outlook contacts

The versatility of a Pocket PC combined with the simplicity of a Windows Smartphone means you never have to leave the office without your Outlook^TM Contacts and Calendar.

Bluetooth wireless technology lets you wirelessly synchronise Contacts and Calendar with Outlook^TM on your desktop computer.

But what makes life really easy is the ability to call or navigate directly to a contact. Just select the name and you'll be able to call, email or text them just by tapping again on the option you want.

With Mio Map v2, you'll have the choice of navigating directly to their address. Once confirmed, the navigation software launches automatically with your contact's address already entered.

Bluetooth wireless technology connectivity

The Mio A701 comes equipped with Bluetooth wireless technology, so you can make and receive calls in safety when you're on the road.

Together with a Bluetooth wireless technology car kit or headset, the Mio A701 allows you to keep your hands safely on the wheel whenever you're on the phone. It automatically switches from navigation to phone mode every time you receive a call, then back again when you hang up.

Bluetooth wireless technology 1.2 Offers high transmission speeds and reliable connections: exchange files with colleagues and synchronise Contacts with Outlook^TM on your desktop.

Expandable memory for unlimited possibilities

Use standard SD MMC cards store pictures, MP3 files, videos, and e-books to turn A701 into a multimedia entertainment centre on the move.

You could always take a couple of books, your MP3 player and your photo album along on your journey. But just think how much easier it would be if you stored eBooks, music, photos and film on a standard memory card.

The A701 comes with a memory expansion slot that lets you to do just that. And it doesn't matter how long you're going away for, because memory cards mean the possibilities are endless.

Whether you want to read on the train, show relatives your family snaps, or listen to music strolling around town, the A701 lets you take entertainment wherever you go. So you'll be pleased to hear that we include a pair of earphones in the box.

With an integrated 1.3 megapixel camera and 65,000-colour screen, the A701 comes in handy for taking snapshots as well as looking at them.

Thanks to a crystal clear, 65,000-colour screen, the A701 is excellent for storing and viewing photos and watching video footage.

Images look as vibrant on screen as they are in real life, whilst Maps and menus are also bright, crisp and easy to read.
